don't see less attractive risk/reward of being short here, so might be wise to take some of the position off the table here. <> trading at 17x earnings, fifth third is an acquirer, not a target. probably buy PNC, if i had to hazard a guess. the high multiple would be difficult for an acquirer to swallow unless they identified meaningful cost cuts, which would be difficult to achieve given fifth third's low expense base/efficiency ratio. the historical growth that this company achieved was terrific - growth prospects going forward don't compare...
